Igor Susmelj

Igor is a co-founder of Lightly, a software startup that helps companies build better AI. He studied electrical engineering at ETH Zurich and has produced several successful publications on the use of deep learning for computer vision and hardware accelerators. Before starting his venture, he worked in the innovation lab at Six Group, where he helped the company adopt emerging technologies such as machine learning and blockchain. In 2018 he won Europe’s largest hackathon with a computer vision model to detect deep fakes, and gave a TEDx talk about the future threats and opportunities using AI.

Improved data selection has enabled various companies to improve AI models for autonomous driving, drones and visual inspection using deep learning. This technical talk will explore how to select the most informative samples out of the millions available, and how this can lead to significant savings in data annotation costs while increasing accuracy.
